A Raven in a Pool

Thoughts I've thunk while sippin' at a cup of tea and reading something provoking, often get dropped here for the benefit of humanity and my own hubris.

I had another event this morning on my way to work. It was raining quite a bit on my walk to work … well, my 20 minute walk to catch the correct bus. But as I was saying … since it was raining, I had my hood on and had it synched pretty tight as I walked. It doesn't do well for visibility, but it does keep me a bit drier.

As I was walking, I noticed in a pool of water, the reflection of a raven flying onto a perch. I just had to look up and noticed that he flew to a fence right next to me as I was walking.

I suppose I've read too much Jung, but weird events like this get me wondering about its hidden meaning … you know, those strange thoughts that maybe the Beyond is trying to give you messages in the interaction with the world. You know, those other strange thoughts that maybe the World isn't random … at all, and we are witnessing a well orchestrated environment that we call "our life."

"Choose the red pill..."

Many mythologist feel that early people looked at the world in such animistic ways, and "totems" would bring messages from the spirit world. I've noticed that this way of thinking has been brought back in a number of "newage" books.

But even if you can't talk your Logic into agreeing with all of this rubbish, you must admit that looking at the World like this makes it far more magic and less mechanistic.

Not that I've figured out what the message was this raven brought to me …
