My Man Bag

Thoughts I've thunk while sippin' at a cup of tea and reading something provoking, often get dropped here for the benefit of humanity and my own hubris.

There’s nothing worse than hauling an 80lb laptop back and forth between home and work. So, I did what any one else would do— I got a computer for work. With my laptop now spending expansive amounts of time in one place, I don’t really need to haul the laptop’s backpack either … in its empty state, it still feels like I’m carrying bricks.

So I did what anyone else would do— I went shopping for a new bag.

But this time, I wanted something small. Just big enough for my current book selection, and a few odds and ends (like my mini-umbrella). Since my books typically are of the same size, I didn’t want a large backpack.

So I did what anyone else would do— I bought a purse.

Sure, in public, I refer to it as a man bag … but it is what it is. Well, it is black nylon, and it does have a padded shoulder strap … oh, and it does double as a “hip pack” when you adjust the straps accordingly.

On the other hand, it doesn’t help that I like to wear over the opposite shoulder— you know, separating my breasts … like most women wear their purses.

I’m as much in touch with my feminine side as the next lesbian trapped in a man’s body, and so it really doesn’t bother me that I wander around sporting a purse.

Really, it doesn’t.

Really.

I do enjoy your shit and I know I probably shouldn’t call it shit, but it brings such a smile to my face and it’s so good as compost for other thoughts and growth. Love you man, really, no really I do do.

Dan.
