| I'm a Slow Reader | ||||||||||||
Thoughts I've thunk while sippin' at a cup of tea and reading something provoking, often get dropped here for the benefit of humanity and my own hubris.

While I’d like to think that the reason my books in my book bag… er purse don’t change very often is because of the limited time I have to read. The startup company, the children (well, soon to be children), and everything takes its toll on my time. But I should just admit the truth… I’m really just a slow reader. While friends whiz through novels in a single evening, I’m laboriously reading a single chapter. I’ve taken speed reading courses, but I don’t like it. I enjoy reading, and I guess that while I wish I could read more, I enjoy reading slow. So I do what any other slow reader out there would do … I read more complicated books. I haven’t read a novel for years. Not because I don’t like novels, but because I can’t justify spending all that time just on a novel when I could have been wading through a college textbook on combinatorics … or better yet, catching up on the latest geeky technical fetish. I guess one advantage is that I don’t have to modify the book listing on my web site that often. Hey, look on the bright side whenever you can.
