| While Flying Through the Air | ||||||||||||
Thoughts I've thunk while sippin' at a cup of tea and reading something provoking, often get dropped here for the benefit of humanity and my own hubris.

Once upon a time, I enjoyed flying on business. It was a way for me to see the country on someone else’s dime. I also enjoyed the actual travel time as it gave me some down time to catch up on reading and to re-evaluate my insides. But times have changed and now every minute at the office is time away from my children and each of these minutes are precious and expensive. But at least I have those cherished moments in the evening of rough-housing on the living room floor and eventually putting sleepy eyes to bed. But traveling on business takes even those moments away from me. There is also the added fact that I now have more to live for. I mean, before if something happened to me while traveling, my mother would receive a fat check to help comfort her loss. But now, I’m actually taking care of myself so that I can live long enough to allow my children to enjoy the great father that they have. Now that is priceless. I’m writing this while whirling at hundreds of miles per hour and thirty thousand feet in the air, and I would give anything to hear my daughter crawl into my lap and say, “Hi Daddy-o!” Thought originally posted on Monday, 6 October 2003

A funny little story that when I got home, my two year old daughter had come up with a plan with my wife. She would say, “Shhhh” with her finger to her lips, and then yell, “A’plise!” (Surprise) and jump on my head. And that was how I woke up this morning. Comment posted on Friday, 10 October 2003 |
