I just finished catching PBS’ latest acid trip for two year olds. Its called, Boohbah, and it makes the Teletubbies look like a normal sitcom.
Lots of swirly, rainbow-colored lights and balls peppered with five bulbous aliens who, except for the energetic dancing, can only shift their eyes and light up their eyebrows. After boohbah’ing to a quasi-African beat, they fart and fly around the room. See what I mean … trippy, man.
Once upon a time, I came to work early and Po was already there. I mentioned to him that I had just seen my first episode of Teletubbies with my daughter, and he began a long exposition about how there must be two missing Teletubbies, an orange and blue one. And these might be uber-tubbies… or perhaps one was the great Tubby, and the other the evil Dark Tubby…
Needless to say, I can’t wait to see what he comes up with after watching Boohbah.

Just to clarify, the rationale for the other Teletubbies is that the females are primary colors (Lala => Yellow, Po => Red) and the males are secondary colors (Tinky Winky => Purple, Dipsy => Green). Basic additive color theory uses an additional primary color, blue, and an additional secondary color, orange. Assuming there’s any overarching logic to the show (cough), this suggests there is a female blue Teletubby and a male orange Teletubby somewhere else.
An acquaintance of mine theorized that based on subtractive color theory there also two additional Teletubbies, one white (all colors) and one black (no colors). These were promptly dubbed the Übertubby and the Antitubby.
