| Constitutional Amendment? | ||||||||||||
Thoughts I've thunk while sippin' at a cup of tea and reading something provoking, often get dropped here for the benefit of humanity and my own hubris.

I’ve been wanting to respond to Bush’s idea of a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages. But then, metamanda summed up my views… Amen, sister. Amen. Thought originally posted on Wednesday, 25 February 2004

By now we’ve all heard the arguments, both forth and against this new proposed constitutional amendment… but one of the best arguments I’ve read is located at the “Looking for Sam” website: Refuting Christianity Today. I guess one of good things that may come from Bush’s proposal will be as a catalyst for a change that should have happened earlier. I prefer the proposal that was recently endorsed by the Libertarian Party of Oregon: get government out of the marriage business. Set up civil unions as the place to deal with legal handfasting of any sort and let churches handle the “married” definition.
