Thoughts I've thunk while sippin' at a cup of tea and reading something provoking, often get dropped here for the benefit of humanity and my own hubris.

We all have a perspective of the world that I like to call a Personal Cosmological Model. Yeah, a big word for simply describing how we think things work. Originally the majority of humans looked at the sun and thought it flew in a circle around us, and while we think we know better, we still call it rising and setting. But my world perspective crumbled when I started a feeble attempt to explain the concept of germs to my three-year old. Might as well be describing them as “evil spirits.” Yes, they are little invisible creatures that can fly around and sometimes into you. And if they get inside, they will cause you to get sick. These germs appreciate offerings of food left in a shrine outside called a “garbage can.” I ended up doing what every parent ends up saying… er, screaming at their three-year old, “Just wash your hands after peeing because I said so!” Thought originally posted on Saturday, 25 September 2004
